Karin J. Lundell
Karin Lundell practices in the Firm’s estate planning and administration practice group and the matrimonial and family law group. For more than two decades, Ms. Lundell has advised individuals and families in estate planning and charitable giving techniques, the preparation of wills and complex trusts, and the creation of family partnerships and closely-held entities. Her focus is finding creative solutions to help clients achieve tax effective transfers of wealth to future generations and advising owners of family-owned businesses on succession planning. She has represented beneficiaries and fiduciaries in trust and estate administration matters. Ms. Lundell also represents clients in the negotiation and preparation of prenuptial agreements and divorce settlements, where her expertise in tax and estate planning is especially valuable in guiding clients to make informed decisions when structuring financial settlements. Ms. Lundell advises 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organizations and family foundations on the rules governing tax-exempt entities, director compensation, corporate governance, and compliance with federal and state tax laws. She advises on the creation of charitable organizations and serves on the board of several family foundations.
Before joining Pavia & Harcourt, Ms. Lundell was a partner at Pryor Cashman LLP in the Private Client Group, where her practice included trust and estates planning, tax counseling, estate administration, and matrimonial law. She began her career at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in the Private Clients Group.
Ms. Lundell graduated from the University of Paris III – La Nouvelle Sorbonne in Paris, France, with a degree in Russian Studies and attended New York University School of Law where she received her J.D. (1999) and LLM in Taxation (2001). She is fluent in French and Russian and served as a conference translator at the United Nations in New York City before embarking on a law career. Ms. Lundell is a member of The Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners, the New York City Estate Planning Council, the New York City Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
Ms. Lundell is admitted to the New York Bar.
